Hong Kong Theme

By DAZ

This design was based on a photograph that I took of the skyscrapers in HK harbour. You can see the photo over at flickr.

This design uses the opacity property to make the tabs transparent. I wanted to create a design that used coloured text on a black background and also used a lot of colours. There is an amazing light show that is put on at HK harbour and it this design was supposed to mimic all of those colourful lights. Faux columns were used to make the outside columns equal height.

Problems

To get the opacity effect, some propriety properties had to be used(-moz-opacity and filter). Later versions of Firefox support opacity, but the validator doesn't recognise it as it is a CSS3 property. Older browsers don't support it at all, but the tabs are still usable.

Browser Support

Firefox and Safari seem fine.

It now seems to work in IE 6 and 7.

Opera 9.25 seems fine, except that for some reason the text inside the tabs is partially missing ... very strange!
